Scabs after your hair transplant

Scabs after hair transplant are tiny crust which are formed on the scalp due to the minor cuts inflicted during the grafting technique. These cuts or incisions require a few days to begin the healing process. As for the scabs, they start developing after 3 days of the surgery. To put it more precisely, the clotting of the blood which occurs right after forming an incision causes these to appear. Bleeding occurs in the form of tiny leaks during the Fue hair restoration procedure when extraction is performed in the donor area. However, at this early stage, they are strongly attached to the head. Another reason for their formation is due to the drying up of any bodily fluid which pours out such as sweat. The body fluid may also be a secretion which heals the wounds on the scalp due to bleeding.

How to remove scabs

It is not only normal but also necessary for the scabs after your hair transplant to fall off. But this should occur at its own pace. Some people carry out harsh treatments to make them pour out within 1 or 2 days after the surgery which is very harmful. A safe measure is to keep the head away from the contact of water for a minimum of 36 hours after going through the procedure. Crusts usually fall off within one or two weeks on their own. The first scalp washing session should take place after 72 hours with baby shampoo. It is also advised to soak the head fully in the bathtub and mix the water with baby oil so that the scabs can wear off. Massage your head with this water softly. It is strictly prohibited to pick the scabs as doing this will shake the graft from its place. Instead, you should pat it as gently as possible and try not to touch the head for at least a week because it will harm the underlying follicles. It is completely normal if a small amount of hair fall occurs. Some doctors recommend using the saline spray in speeding up the healing process. This spray is also not harmful to the grafts. After washing, allow the head to dry on its own. The key is to not rush into anything and be as gentle as possible.
