The first stage of alopecia areata is hair loss in patches; it can be cured easily however the later stages called alopecia totalis and universalis are dangerous. To know the exact cause of hair loss, blood tests are performed. In men, the genetic cause of baldness is known as alopecia andreogentica and in women; it is called as female pattern baldness. This type is more common in men than women.
Conditions that cause Androgenetica in women:
- Iron deficiency
- Thyroid problem
- Lupus disease
There are medical and non-medical treatments offered in Pakistan to treat alopecia (hair loss), on the other hand, if you’re suffering from complete baldness of hair then the only solution left is hair transplant surgery because hair transplant restore your hair within three months and stays for the lifetime!
Treatments available in Pakistan:
Hair transplant in Pakistan is very affordable and people from other countries visit to Pakistan to get the treatment done. There are many well reputed hair transplant clinics are in the cities like Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi with the high skilled staff and surgeons. Surgeons from other countries often pay their visits to provide people a quality treatment.
Non-medical treatments include the medications like Minoxidil and Propecia to restore your hair back.
Cortisone is also injected into the bald patches to restore hair growth. However, these treatments are to cure the first stages of alopecia, but not applicable for the people who are suffering from total hair loss.
Generally two types of surgeries are performed in Pakistan; The strip procedure and follicular unit extraction method. The surgeon usually decides the method of transplant according to your stage of baldness.
FUE transplant is an advanced method in which hair follicles are harvested from the donor area (back side of the scalp) and then they are separated under the microscope. Minute slits are prepared into bald areas with the help of needles and then hair grafts are placed in these sites by a punch.
And in the FUT transplant, a narrow slit of hair strands is removed in one piece and then the follicles are divided individually. Both the methods are significant and provide natural looking results. FUE is a bit expensive though.
Difference between them:
A transplant consists of two stages; extraction and plantation. The only difference between these two FUE and FUT transplant is the method of extraction and plantation method is the same. However, FUE method is free of pain and no stitches are required also, the scars left by this transplant are invisible to naked eyes.
Hair surgery takes from 4 to 9 hours to complete and performed under the general anesthesia. And after two or three months, your hair starts growing again. It is best to discuss and find the type of your hair loss before going for any treatment because only a dermatologist can tell you the best possible cure to your problem.
